Who Can Enroll?
Students in grades 11 and 12 who have a permanent part-time job that averages 10 hours/week.

Must have a job and, if under 18, must have a work permit

Must have a 2.0 GPA and good attendance as defined by the SBSD

Spring Semester 2008
Week 14 - Career Ctr - May 8

8 am - 2 pm

Students who enroll in this course will expand their knowledge of the world of  work by exploring  job success skills, employment law,  personal rights,  financial planning, and career choices.

  • Earn 5 credits / semester with a maximum of 20 credits for four semesters
  • Earn up to 6 units of SBCC credit
  • Eligible to work extended hours (up to 8 hrs/day, 40 hrs/ week)
  • Leave school early and qualify for jobs not available to other students
  • Learn knowledge, skills, work habits and attitudes necessary for successful job performance
  • Learn how to accept and utilize constructive criticism
  • Learn to work with others in successful and rewarding ways
  • Learn how to get a job, keep your job, and leave your job
  • Discover new potential in your own skills and abilities
  • Develop a sense of accomplishment, responsibility, and self-reliance

 

 

High School Credit:
Students may earn 1 credit for every 30 hours of work reported via pay stubs for a maximum of 5 credits/semester totalling 150 hours or more.

SBCC Work Exp 290 Credit:
Students are eligible to earn 2 units of college credit by completing the minimum high school requirement of 150 hrs/semester.

Students who work over 225 hours are eligible for 3 units of college credit.

A high school WEE grade of C or better is required for college credit to be awarded.
